School charters

If you have a school group and are thinking about travelling to Motutapu Island then here are a few things you will need to know prior to the day of travel.  You can expect someone from DOC to establish contact to advise they will be inspecting baggage and vehicles onsite at Half Moon Bay.

  • All vehicles must be CLEAN inside and out
  • All bags or boxes are closed securely including any pockets on holdalls
  • Any holes or rips in baggage must be taped over prior to arrival at the wharf

Checking-in

It is recommended your group arrives at our Half Moon Bay ferry terminal at least 60 minutes prior to departure of your ferry.

We ask all children to stay in class lines whilst waiting for departure, in the lanes specially marked. Please ensure you keep roadways clear for moving traffic. Position your helpers around to keep children and others off the loading lanes. The last procedure before boarding is for everyone travelling to brush their shoes using our wonderful foot/shoe brush kept permanently onsite.

Group baggage

We ask for all baggage to be placed In Lane B at the back of the building, see attachment.  Please use 3 lines of baggage (or 2 lines of baggage for smaller groups). These lines of baggage will need to be as neat as possible with a walkway between each, allowing enough space for the sniffer dog to get through with his handler.

It is important all bags or boxes are secure. We often see pockets on holdalls and holes/rips in baggage. These must be taped over prior to arrival at the wharf. We would advise the group organiser to bring along a couple of rolls of strong duct tape, as there are always the odd bags to tape up.

We at SeaLink are highly motivated to help DOC in preserving our beautiful islands for future generations. It is extremely important we stop the spread of Argentine Ants, Rainbow Skinks as well as any seed contamination.
