With summer fast approaching, we have an exciting casual opportunity for a customer driven enthusiast to join our Customer Care Team based at Half Moon Bay in providing exceptional customer service to our Waiheke and Great Barrier Island ferry customers.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Oversee the smooth queuing and loading of vehicles and passengers onto our vessels
  • Receive in-bound customer booking(s) enquiries and/or complaints by telephone and email.
  • Ticket office – be the face of SeaLink in the terminal office when serving our customers.
  • Process all customer requests pertaining to sailing enquiries and bookings.
  • Respond to all online/email queries in a timely manner.
  • Be the escalation point for any customer complaints or queries.
  • Maintain our booking system including online capability.

To be successful in the role you will need to have the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience in in-bound Call Centre experience / experience in using an online booking / reservation system is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in customer resolution.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and gain their trust and respect.
  • The ability to work at other terminals as required.

About the role:
Reporting to the Risk and Sustainability Manager, this position is responsible for helping ensure SeaLink NZ, its employees and stakeholders meet the legal and compliance requirements associated with the associated Maritime and Health & Safety regulations.

Sealink is currently focussed on reviewing and enhancing work and safety procedures across our sites throughout Auckland, including Waiheke and Great Barrier.  You will be primarily responsible for creating and documenting work and safety  procedures for each site.  You will also be the lead for training staff, working together to ensure full legal compliance and industry best practice is achieved and maintained. 

Whilst experience in a maritime environment is not essential, it would be highly advantageous, as would exposure to logistics, transport or tourism industries. 

This is a dynamic, constantly changing industry and you will have the opportunity to expand on your existing project management skills.

To be successful in the role you must have the following qualifications, experience and abilities:

  • National Certificate in Health and Safety (Level 3) – minimum.
  • Minimum 4 years in a similar health and safety role with knowledge of best practice and track record of implementation.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act (2015).
  • Policy and procedure development and documentation skills.
  • High levels of initiative and energy with solutions driven approach.
  • Proven experience with engaging cross functional teams.
  • High levels of initiative and energy with a solution driven approach.
  • Strong MS Office skills and a high level of digital literacy
  • Project management experience would be an advantage.
  • Training in Incident Investigation e.g., ICAM, would be an advantage.

About the role:

We have an exciting, newly created opportunity for a full-time Hospitality Assistant who will be based at Half Moon Bay. This role will see you assisting the Hospitality Manager behind the scenes controlling the flow of goods in and out of our storage facilities across our sites and onto our vessels. A critical part of this role is to drive best in class processes to ensure stock is accounted for and where it should be as per the system.

The days of work are Monday to Friday - 40 hours, but occasional weekends may be required. 

If you are thinking about a career in hospitality and/or maritime, then this is the perfect position to begin your career whilst you build your skills and learning. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Receive, check, and examine the inventory of stock that arrives at our facilities.
  • Incoming goods are cross referenced against the invoices to ensure there are no discrepancies.
  • Assemble and pack outgoing orders and then ensure goods are delivered to the correct vessel/ site in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation, hygiene, health and safety as well as ensuring all policies and procedures are appropriate and are being adhered to.
  • Maintain a collaborative, efficient and consistent working environment for all staff across Café and Bar.
  • Record and report on regular inspections of areas, including Kitchens and Storerooms to ensure everything is running smoothly and report back to the Hospitality Manager where appropriate.
  • Learn to use our POS software to ensure that the transition of stock is accounted for. Using key reports to help aid accuracy and spot errors.
  • Look for innovative, eco conscious solutions to existing and future needs.
  • There may be times you will be required to drive a forklift or use a pallet jack to unload or move goods.

To be successful in the role you must have your own reliable transport to get to and from work and will need to have the following skills, knowledge and qualities:

  • Full drivers licence
  • Forklift licence (if you don’t have one don’t worry, we can help you to get one… they are actually quite fun to drive)
  • Experience or certifications in hospitality
  • Interest in or experience in stock control and storeroom/warehouse procedures
  • How to operate machinery such as forklifts or pallet jacks (desirable)
  • The ability to lift heavy objects
  • Able to easily adapt to changing work conditions
  • Effective communication skills

We have an exciting opportunity for a Driver or Truck Driver (Class 1 or 2) to come and join our Tahi Road, Waiheke team. Due to early starts, this role requires a Waiheke resident. 

Key accountabilities include:

  • Waiheke Island pickups and deliveries
  • Reversing onto vessels
  • Performing pre-start checks on the vehicle
  • A small amount of general vehicle maintenance (oil checks and the like)
  • Navigating narrow roads and confined areas
  • Vehicle loading and unloading

Necessary licenses, endorsements, skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year driving and delivering experience
  • Dangerous Goods and forklift endorsement (desirable)
  • Good knowledge of Waiheke Island
  • Physically fit, for lifting
  • Sound understanding of logbook regulations and requirements
  • Clean record, good communication skills, presentable and a team player
  • Manage paperwork and electronic communication devices, scanning etc.
  • Must be available to work half a day on Saturdays on a rotating basis

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Master to join our incredible ferry crew at Half Moon Bay. This role will see you playing an active part in coaching, guiding and providing mentorship for the crew.

This is a permanent, full time position on a 3 days on 3 days off roster including public holidays. Shifts can vary between 13 - 15 hours in duration depending on the day of the week and peak holiday times.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Conducting pre and post-sailing safety checks.
  • Ensuring vessel compliance as per internal operational requirements, MR Part 19 (MOSS) and HSAW 2015.
  • Operating vessels with a focus on passenger, crew and vessel safety.
  • Providing crew supervision and training as required.
  • Timely completion of administrative tasks including timely and accurate reporting.
  • Maintaining schedules as per the timetable.
  • Proactively ensuring the vessel achieves full operational capability every day.

To be successful in the role you must have the following qualifications, experience and abilities:

  • Current Master ticket 500GT or SRL with > 24 meters endorsement or equivalent commercial ticket
  • Passenger Endorsement
  • MEC 6 (minimum)
  • Auckland Harbour P.E.C. an advantage
  • Current First Aid
  • 5 years’ skipper experience on large vessels
  • Strong involvement and understanding with MOSS/ H&S compliance
  • Able to demonstrate a positive, solutions focused and customer centric approach.
  • A proactive and supportive trainer and leader

The ideal role if you would love to spend your summer working and having fun on the water! This role is undoubtedly a hospitality job with a difference!   

With summer fast approaching, we have exciting opportunities for fixed-term Café Bar Assistants who will be based at Half Moon Bay. Working in this role you will have the opportunity to learn the ropes of a deckhand through assisting the deckhands with operational and safety duties on each sailing.   

We are a seven day a week operation with early starts a prerequisite. Your roster will be on a set pattern of three days on and three days off. 

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Providing exceptional customer service 

  • Following strict guidelines in food service 

  • Providing a welcoming and efficient service 

  • Knowing and maintaining the product 

  • Assisting the deckhands in addition to café operation 

To be successful in the role you must have your own reliable transport and will need to have the following skills, knowledge and qualities: 

  • Previous experience in a café or retail environment 

  • Bar Managers Certificate (advantageous) 

  • Understanding the principals of the safe sale and supply of alcohol 

  • Local knowledge of visitor attractions 

  • POS experience 

  • A demonstrated ability to work under pressure 

  • Able to easily adapt to changing work conditions 

  • Ability to resolve queries with initiative, energy and a positive attitude whilst working as a productive team member.
