Ferries arrive at Tryphena Wharf. Most of the island's main accommodation places are within 15 – 20 minutes drive of here.
Most days the trip takes 4 ½ hours. This sailing time is approximate and can be affected by weather and / or operational requirements.
We strongly recommend that you book ahead to avoid disappointment. You may book most services online or through our sales centre on (09) 300 5900.
When you make a booking online, the system shows the price of each sector of your journey. Once you have completed your booking the sector fares are added together to make the total value for your booking.
Absolutely! We welcome foot passengers on all of our services.
Heavy seas are occasionally experienced on the trip to Great Barrier Island. If you are prone to seasickness, "Sealegs" can be purchased from your local chemist and should be taken a couple of hours prior. SeaLink also sells ginger-based tablets at the check-in counter. Another option is to roll a piece of cotton wool or fine paper into a ball and place in your left ear (if you are right-handed) or vice versa. We believe this works brilliantly (although you need to be careful not to push it in too far)
Some parking is available on the street but we urge you to check signs carefully before parking. Paid parking is available across the road at the Auckland Fish Market and must be pre-arranged by calling (09) 3794720 Monday – Friday between 9am – 5pm. Tickets will need to be collected during office hours.
Be careful where you park. SeaLink will not be responsible if your vehicle is towed, damaged or stolen while left unattended in or around our terminals.
Vehicle pricing is dependent on the length and the width of vehicles. If you are travelling in (or with) anything other than a standard car, please call us for the correct pricing.
SeaLink's Holiday programme offers packaged holidays which include discounted ferry fares. We can help with most general queries and send you brochures about the destination.
SeaLink vessels are available for charter. Please call us for more information.
From time to time we do run services to other islands in the Hauraki Gulf however this is an "on demand service" and is mainly for the delivery of freight and work vehicles. Please call us for more information
