Great Barrier Island Hiking and Mountain Biking

Great Barrier Island, a haven for outdoor activities set amongst untouched natural beauty. It is highly recommended that you experience one of the walks, hikes or mountain bike runs on ‘The Barrier’ even if it’s just the 15 minute walk to the lookout at Windy Canyon, the views are incredible.
Here is a Department of Conservation map of Great Barrier Island that shows some of the popular hiking and mountain biking tracks. The island boasts over 100kms of DoC tracks with absolutely amazing views and for the more adventurous, a multi–day tramping experience is possible with the addition of the new Mt Heale Hut.
