Great Barrier Wharf to Wharf Marathon

This is a unique event held on Great Barrier Island, 90kms NE of downtown Auckland, one of New Zealand’s most pristine and picturesque islands.
The Wharf to Wharf Event is sponsored by SeaLink and is a fundraiser for Kaitoke School, a small primary school on the island. The event if suitable for people of all ages and levels of fitness with a Full Marathon (42.2kms) or a Half Marathon on either track or road (21.1kms). Participants can Mountain Bike, Run or Walk or do a Duathlon (half track bike plus half road run).
The course starts from the Port FitzRoy Wharf at the northern end of the island and finishes at the Tryphena Wharf in the south. The first half of the race is run along Department of Conservation tracks through beautiful native bush, with spectacular views over the Hauraki Gulf and Pacific Ocean and the second half is on sealed roads with views of the island’s stunning east coast beaches.

Barrier Babe Day 2014
Does the Barrier have the best Babes? We sure do!! And we are going to figure out who is the very best on Barrier on Easter Sunday (20 April), when the skills of 12 of our local Babes will be put to the test in eight challenges.
The winner of each of the tests will win an awesome prize, and the babe with the best overall score will carry the title of Perfect Barrier Babe for the next 4 years. Most tests will remain a secret till the day... But what isn't a secret is that this now epic Barrier event is good for lots of laughs, that there will be great food and bevvies and that Jan Maree, a hot babe herself, will be the MC on the day. YEY!
This event is a fundraiser for Mulberry Grove School.

Great Barrier Island Ocean Paddling Event 22/23 March 2014
Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd March 2014
New Zealand’s newest ocean paddling event. This will be a 17km paddle from the Jetty on Motu Kaikoura Island through Man-War-Passage, out to and around Motuhaku Island, a direct line to and around Maunganui peninsula then into Motairehe.
The event is suited to ocean paddle craft including surfskis, outriggers, stand up paddle boards and seakayaks.
The event will be based at the Orama Oasis complex, entry fee includes accommodation, meals (excluding Saturday’s presentation night) and transfers back from Motairehe.
Entries are open now! Registration closes 11 March and there will be no late registration if accommodation is required.
SeaLink’s new Fast Ferry service to Great Barrier Island leaves Saturday morning from Auckland and returns Sunday evening from Tryphena. The event schedule will allow event paddlers to use this new service. You will be required to get your craft on the trailer to the island or arrange your own transport as the fast ferry has limited space and not able to carry them.
